Bariatric Procedure Patient 1
This patient is a 52 year old woman who had successfully lost 130 lbs after bariatric surgery. She is 5’2” tall and weighs 135 lbs. Her Body Mass Index is now a healthy 24. Her massive weight loss resulted in a lot of excess anterior abdominal skin, especially in the upper portion. This necessitated a fleur-di-lys style abdominoplasty to remove the excess skin, hence the horizontal and vertical scars. The After photos were taken 3 months post surgery.
Are Bariatric Procedures for Me?
Bariatric surgery, or weight loss surgery, includes a variety of procedures specifically recommended for individuals who are morbidly obese and are at severe risk for medical complications associated with diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, degenerative arthritis, etc. Bariatric surgery is certainly life-changing and potentially lifesaving. After the surgery, patients may lose 100 or more pounds over a 1 to 2 year period.
